Stateless Idioms is an outdoor playscape using AR interaction. The goal of the project is to explore the intrinsic connections between cultures from a linguistic perspective. Inspired by the game "Lost in translation", this work takes idioms as an entry point, visualizes idioms in multiple languages that have the same meaning but are expressed in different ways, and uses them in an idiom matching game.

Animated idioms visualization
When we look at each other's cultures we tend to
focus on the differences, and this is where misunderstandings arise. This project aims to visualize the inherent connections and commonalities between cultures that have been overlooked. This is
why I designed the idiom matching game, to make the viewer aware that people on the other side of the world, who speak a language we may not understand, still share a common and understandable life experience.
